Literary Terms
Click here for a document that contains definitions for literary terms students will be expected to know. Don't worry! We will discuss, have examples of, use, and review these terms throughout the school year. Individual Writing Assignments
Individual Writing Assignments - IWAs - will be assigned throughout the year. Please see this document for an explanation of what a IWAs are, how they are graded, and other expectations. As the year progresses, IWA topics will be posted in Google Classroom. Remember that when the turn-in window for an IWA closes, that is it. "Late" IWAs will not be accepted; no exceptions. |

Parts of Speech and Sentence Elements Sheet Capitalization and Punctuation Rules Sheet Outside Reading Assignments
Outside Reading Assignments - ORAs - have replaced AR points in junior high. For ORAs, students must read at least one novel per quarter. Novels must be approved by the teacher in order to count for ORAs. As a default, the student's AR test score over the novel will be the basis for the grade, but students are encouraged to attempt alternative assessment methods if they would prefer them. Remember that like IWAs, when the turn-in window for an ORA closes, that is it. ORA windows will coincide with the end of the quarter, with 4th quarter being the exception. |
